Abstract
359,544. Crown corks &c. CROWN CORK CO., Ltd., Apexes Works, Southall, Middlesex.-(Crown Cork & Seal Co., Inc.; Highlandtown, Baltimore, U.S.A.) July 24, 1930, No. 22336. [Class 125 (iii).] A crown cork &c. closure for bottles &c., comprises a metal capsule containing a cork &c. resilient lining having applied thereto, by means of guttapercha or like cement rendered plastic by heat, a protective disc of metal foil or waterproofed paper of smaller diameter. In forming the closure, the capsule with the cork &c. liner in place is presented to a heated tube, which raises its temperature sufficiently to,render the guttapercha &c. tacky; then the protective disc is punched out and pressed into position therein.
