Abstract
358,870. Shearing. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. May 29, 1931, No. 15807. Convention date, June 11, 1930. [Class 83 (iv).] In a machine for shearing rolled metal into lengths the passage of the material over a grooved drum 1 causes energization of a solenoid 30 which rocks a lever 26 to throw in a clutch 18. A control disc 10 is then rotated at slow speed through a gear 17 and shaft 12 to position cams which actuate cutters 3 pivoted on the drum. When the end of the material leaves the drum the solenoid 30 is de-energized and a spring 33 reverses the lever 26 to throw in a friction clutch 24 which drives the shaft 12 and the control disc 10 at slow speed, in preferably a reversed direction to restore the control disc to normal position.
