Abstract

[Class 78 (i).] Mechanism for imparting reciprocating motion to the trough of a jigging conveyer in such a manner as to produce a relatively much more rapid reversal of motion to the trough at the end of each forward stroke than at the end of each return stroke, is so designed that after the rapid reversal of motion at the end of the forward stroke, the return movement of the trough conforms substantially to simple rectilinear movement derived from uniform rotational movement. A crank shaft 5 rotated at a uniform speed is connected by a rod 9 to a pin 10 carried by one arm 11 cf a bifurcated doublearmed lever 11, 12. A pin 15 mounted in the arm 12 is connected by a rod 16 to pin 17 mounted on a block 18 which is slidable in guides 19. A pin 20 mounted on the block 18 is connected by a link 21 to a crank pin 22 provided on a crank shaft 23. A pair of bifurcated arms 26, 27 keyed to the shaft 23 are provided with holes 28, 29 arranged in radial alignment. A pin 30 placed in either of these holes connects a link 31 to each arm. The other end of each link has a rectangular aperture through which is passed a bar 32. One end of this bar is connected by a rod 35 to a pin 36 secured to the side of the conveyer trough. In a modification the arm 27, Fig. 4, is connected by a link 31 to a swivel connection comprising articulated members 38, 39. The member 39 is pivotally connected to a double-armed lever 42, 43 which is pivotally mounted on a pin 44. Pins 46, Fig. 6, depending from a shoulder 45 on the pin 44 engage holes in the baseplate 3. The arm 43 is connected by a link 51 and a connecting-rod 53 to the underside of the trough. If desired the link 31 may be connected to the arm 26 and the pin 44 secured to the opposite side of the base. Specification 351,348 is referred to.
