Abstract

Gauge blocks and other precision-measuring instruments are made of a stainless steel alloy containing 1,75 per cent of carbon, 12 per cent of chromium, 3,6 per cent of cobalt, 0,65 per cent of molybdenum, and 0,6 per cent of nickel. The articles thus made are hardened at 1050 DEG C., or may be normalized at 1100 DEG C. and afterwards hardened in oil at 1000 DEG C.
