Abstract
355,751. Motor vehicle frames. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd., 93, Regent Street, London. Feb. 18, 1930, No. 5458. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 79 (iv).] In a two-part chassis frame construction, crossframe members 14, 19 are respectively clamped by U-bolts 16, 18 to transverse springs 13, 17 on the front and rear axles 12, 11, shock absorbers 36 of the hydraulic type connecting the cross framemembers to the axles by bent arms 37 transmitting a vertical pull to links 38. Inner, tubular longitudinals 20, carrying the engine and transmission gearing, are rigidly secured at their front ends to the cross frame-member 14 and, at their rear ends are united by a welded &c. lug 21 pivotally mounted on a bolt 23 projecting from a pad 22 held in place by the U-bolts 18 securing the rear cross frame-member 19 to the spring 17. The body is attached to outer longitudinals 24 mounted on the ends of the cross frame-members 14, 19 by cushioning means as shown in Fig. 3, and comprising inner and outer sleeves 26, 27 vulcanized to a hollow cylindrical block 25 of rubber. the outer sleeve 27 being fixed to the longitudinal 24 by means of a ferrule 28 secured by bolts 29 and the inner sleeve being secured by a bolt 30 to the respective cross frame-member. The ends of the flanges of the cross frame-members are appropriately cut away to clear the lower flanges of the longitudinals 24 as shown in Fig. 3.
