355,521. Windscreen wipers. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd., Kimpton Road, Luton, and DREW, H., Roundwood Crest, Roundwood Park, Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Sept. 3, 1930, No. 26277. [Class 138 (i).] A windscreen wiper d is automatically disconnected from its actuating mechanism i when the windscreen a, on which the wiper is mounted, is opened. The actuating mechanism i is mounted on a fixed portion k of the car. The screen a is assumed pivoted at the top. The wiper d has a spindle c carrying a slotted disc f engaging an actuating crank arm g provided with a lug l. To avoid the arm d falling completely over when the screen is opened, the disc f has two shouldered notches f<2>, Fig. 3, engaging opposite sides of an abutment bracket m which limits the angular movement of the arm d. When the screen slides upwards, a spring crank arm g moves downwards and the corresponding slot f<1>, Fig. 5, is directed downwards. The bracket m is then arranged on top. The disc f has a forwardly curved border f<3> to press back the lug l until it snaps into the slot f<1>,
