Abstract
354,410. Road vehicle opening tops. PAGE, G., Claremont, Staines Road, East Bedfont, Middlesex. May 14, 1930, No. 14803. [Class 108 (i).] In road vehicles of the kind in which the roof is arranged to open and the back to be folded down the rear members supporting the doors are formed of pressings or angles riveted or welded together so as to be continuous from the cantrail on one side down to the floor, across the body and up to the cantrail on the other side so that no bonding member between the cantrails at the rear is necessary. The door pillars 5 having upper portions 6 to support the cantrails are secured at the lower ends to short transverse members 4 which are welded to body pillars 3 secured to floor transverse members 2. A waist rail 7 is secured to the door pillars 5 and is continuous around the rear of the body. Pillars 8 similar to the pillars 5 are provided and secured to members 2, 3, 4 in the same way as the pillars 5. An inclined member 9 connects the pillars 5, 8 and forms an abutment for the folding rear hood member 11. Gusset plates are provided at the junctions of the members and the cantrails are provided with guides 18 for the hoop sticks of the roof-opening hood.
