Abstract
352,737. Rotary brushes. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, London.-(Adams-White Brush Co. ; 53, Wareham Street, Boston, U.S.A.) July 12, 1930, No. 21185. [Class 19.] A rotary brush is built up of metal discs 20, Fig. 3, clamped together on a tube 18 and holding between them tufts of bristles 14 accommodated in bristle-holding grooves 22, Fig. 5. The backs of the discs have disc-engaging teeth. The discs may be of aluminium or other metal stamped out to the requisite shape. The stamped formation provides corrugations 22, the backs of which project as teeth to interlock with an adjoining plate. Any number of spacing discs 20<1>, Fig. 7, may be used facing either way, or the spacing may be accomplished by using plates with simple uniform corrugations. The density of the bristles may be varied by omitting bristles from some of the sockets, and by introducing more or less spacing discs. The discs are held between end collars 28, Fig. 3. The bristleholding grooves 22 have necks 40, Fig. 5, which hold the bristles when the discs are compressed. Cement may be used, if desired. When the brush is worn, the discs can be disassembled and reset with fresh bristles.
