Abstract

351,475. Road vehicle draught gear. DORAN, L. R., 66, Galveston Road, Putney, London. Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6146. [Class 79 (iii).] A tractor and trailer may be coupled to one another by a telescopic draw-bar combined with an automatic coupling-device. The tractor is backed towards the trailer and the draw-bar, which is attached to the trailer by the eye-bolts A, is lifted. The locking pin B is then withdrawn by the chain E against the pull of the spring H and the inner telescopic bar C is drawn out and attached to the tractor. As soon as the bar C is withdrawn the block G is pushed out by the spring F and prevents pin B from returning under the action of spring H. The tractor is then driven backwards until the bar C pushes the block G backwards against the spring F when the pin B is shot through a hole in the end of the bar C and couples the parts together.
