June 12, 1930, No. 18044. Convention date, July 2, 1929. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Making road vehicles; uniting by fusion.-A sheetmetal blank for die stamping into vehicle bodies comprises flat metal sheets of different gauge flashwelded together at the margins. The thicker sheet 10 to form the coupÚ side is bevelled down along the edge 12 to the thickness of the sheet 11 which forms the upper part of the vehicle body by a grinding wheel 13 or by milling, broaching, hammering, rolling, &c., and the sheets are welded so that the surfaces 15 opposite the bevel are uniplanar to form the outer face of the stamping. The upper stamping die 17 is recessed at 12 to accommodate the bevel or may be provided with clearance as at 19. Specification 350,246 is referred to.
