Abstract
349,875. Metal sash frames. BYSKOU, E. A. R., 8, Midfield Avenue, Barnehurst, Kent. Sept. 18, 1930, No. 27889. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iii).] A sash is composed of two sets of I-section metal members, the members 1 of one set being deeper than those 3 of the other and being pierced at 6, for the passage therethrough of the latter. The distance between the flanges is the same for both sets of bars and sheets of glass are retained therein without putty. The outer sash members are of channel shape, having inturned ends 11, Fig. 5, the reduced and notched ends of the intermediate bars being threaded therein. The intermediate bars may be formed with projecting ends pierced through apertures in the outer frames and turned over. The corners of the outer frame members may be joined by turning over the ends 15 having cut away the parts to interfit. The outer frame may be formed of one strip the corners being formed by cutting away the flanges and bending the web. One corner of this latter construction may be formed by unequal projections on the ends the smaller being turned over an aperture in the other or by a separate strip bent over apertures in each end. The larger of the intermediate bars may have curved flanges the edges of which are cut away for the passage of the smaller bars.
