Abstract

511,382. Glazing roofs. HOPE & SONS, Ltd., H., and GARRATT, H. H. April 28, 1938, No. 12683. [Class 20 (iii)] Glass sheets c on one or both sides of the web a of a glazing bar are held in contact with a supporting flange b by a resilient metal strip e which is folded to provide a pair of edges for engagement with abutments on the web and a third edge or a surface for bearing on the glass sheets. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, two grooved abutments d, f, are formed on each side of the web, and the strips e are each folded to provide one edge which bears on a glass sheet and two edges engaging in the grooves of the abutments. In modifications, the lower abutments are located adjacent the flanges b and are grooved to receive the free longitudinal edges of the strips, and the strips are each formed with a folded edge which bears against, or which provides a surface which bears against, the sheet c. As shown in Fig. 1, the strip may be so shaped that a folded edge engages with the lower abutment and a free edge engages with the glass. The abutment may, as shown, be found near the flange b or, according to modifications, may be arranged between or above the edges of the glass sheets c.
