Abstract

349,728. Knitting. MELLOR BROMLEY & CO., Ltd., BROMLEY, T. C., and SHORTLAND, A., St. Saviour's Road East, Leicester. April 17, 1930, No. 12186. [Class 74 (ii).] A double walled fabric is made in which one or each wall is characterised by variations from normal plain loop formations, e.g. tuck stitches, missstitches, &c., which occur elsewhere than at the places where the two webs are connected together. The Figure shows an over-all cross tuck effect in both webs. The joining may be achieved by the yarn of one web being knitted into or merely engaging the loops of the other. The invention may be carried out on an eight-feeder machine with a cylinder and dial in which slide bearded or latch needles having butts of three different lengths. Figs. 1-5 (not shown) illustrate cams for knitting miss-stitch or tuck fabric in one or both walls. Every twelfth needle in the cylinder or dial or both has a long butt. The rest are short and medium butts arranged alternately. Either web may include plated and colour effects.
