Abstract

349,370. Plug cocks. LIQUID MEASUREMENTS, Ltd. and HAMMOND, F., Hammond Works, Victoria Road, North Acton, Middlesex. July 25, 1930, No. 22506. [Class 135.] In a plug cock the casing 1 around the edge of the discharge orifice 5 has a sharp edge to prevent drip when the cock is shut off. The edge 36 of the casing at the point where the area of discharge approximates to a point when closing is substantially perpendicular to the direction of discharge. As shown for a tapered plug cock the plug 11 is pressed to its seat by a spring 21 housed in a recess 19 in the plug and in a recess 23 in a member 25 having a handle 27. The plug 11 and member 25 have co-operatinsr projections 33, 31, and a stop 17 on the casing 1 contacts a stop 15 on the end of the plug when the cock is fully opened and closed.
