[Class 78 (i).] An endless chain conveyer of the kind having trollies running on a track and an endless chain connecting the trollies has article-supporting load carriers fitted with a hook mounted on the chain or on the trollies, the load carriers having a screw and nut device actuated by abutments adjacent to the track for automatically discharging the articles at required points. Trollies 1 running on the track 2 are connected by an endless chain 3. The load carriers 10 have slidable rods 11 normally held raised by springs 12 and having pivoted thereto at their lower ends screwed stems 13 terminating in half-round shanks 14 carrying hooks 15 pivoted thereto and having half-round stems 15a. A sleeve nut 20 on the screwed stem normally engages the upper end of the stem 15a but by means of arms 21 on the nut engageable by abutments 30 adjacent to the track, the nut is given a step-by-step rotation until the stem 15a is released and the load on the hook is deposited. The hook is provided with a balance weight x so that the unloaded hook returns to its normal position and by means of reversely arranged abutments 31, the arms are turned in the reverse direction and the sleeve nut is lowered to again engage and hold the hook ready for another load. The shank 14 may be fitted with a pointer co-operating with index marks on the sleeve nut to give an indication of the discharging station for which the mechanism has been set.
