Abstract

348,989. Pneumatic vibration dampers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Sept. 18, 1930, No. 27952. Convention date, March 15. [Class 108 (iii).] In order to reduce mechanical oscillations in overhead cable lines, a damping device is suspended by a clip 8 and universal joint 7 from the line 1, and comprises an air container 2 with a piston 3 mounted on a guide-rod 4 in the container 2. The piston is controlled by a helical spring 5, or by two springs one on each side. The piston 3 is loosely mounted on the rod 4, or is provided with holes to allow passage of the air. In a modified construction, the piston is suspended from the line by a rod, the housing moving resiliently in relation to the line and piston to form the heavy swinging body.
