[Class 35.] A brush-holder comprises a flanged attachment part A adapted to be secured to the machine and a series of facsimile bridge pieces B each consisting of a transverse flange b<1> carrying a pair of bored bosses to take the fixing bolts C and a pair of lateral extensions b<4> to form the sides of the brush boxes, the face of the flange a<1> of the attachment part A and the faces of flanges b<1> being formed with recesses or projections with which engage projections and recesses formed on or in the opposite sides of the bridge-pieces whereby any number of the bridge-pieces may be connected together and to an attachment part to form a multiple box brush-holder, the parts being aligned independently of the fit of the bolts C in the bores. As shown in Fig. 1, the face of the flange a<1> is recessed at a3 and the faces of the flanges b<1> are recessed at b3 to receive rectangular spigots constituted by projections b<2> on the extensions b<4>. The holes in the bosses a<4> are tapped and the holes in the flanges b<1> are countersunk to receive the screws C. In a modification cylindrical or conical spigots concentric with the holes b<5> may be provided instead of the rectangular spigots shown. Radial extensions of the flanges are drilled at b<7> to receive a pivot pin G, Fig. 2, which holds the presser fingers F and springs S. Each spring S is fixed by a screw at one end to a facing b<1> and the other end s<4> forms a pressure-adjusting handle engaging with an appropriate notch in the quadrantal part f<2> of the presser finger. The brush-holder may be made of machined castings, die-castings, hot-metal pressings and combinations of these and extruded metal parts.
