Abstract

346,877. Feeding-devices for granular and like materials. SIMON, W. G. and SIMON, F. R., Phoenix Works, Vernon Road, Basford, Nottinghamshire. Jan. 29, 1930, No. 3061. [Class 59.] In apparatus for feeding material to weighing or other machines, of the kind wherein material is fed from a supply hopper A to the receptacle by a worm G revolving in a horizontal conduit B, a second worm I of smaller diameter is disposed below and conducts the material from the first worm to an outlet K, the worms being in separate conduits and geared together to revolve at different speeds. The speed of the smaller worm is preferably three or four times that of the larger. The hopper is provided with the usual agitator W, geared to the driving shaft H<1>.
