346,216. Steam power plant. RUTHSACCUMULATOR AKTIEBOLAG, 1A, Eriksbergsgatan, Stockholm. May 29, 1930, No. 16664. Convention date, June 5, 1929. [Class 110 (iii).] In a steam power plant in which a turbine or other power unit 1 is supplied with live steam from a pipe 2 and low-pressure steam from an accumulator or boiler 5, the pressure in the pipe 2 is maintained approximately constant by means of a pressure-controlled valve 7 which controls the amount of steam supplied to the turbine from the accumulator 5. Speed-controlled valves 4, 9 are supplied in the two steam lines 3, 6. An increase in pressure in pipe 2 causes a closing movement of the valve 7, the turbine receives less steam from the accumulator and slows down and the valve 4 opens to admit more live steam until conditions are normal. On increase of load on the turbine the speed regulator 4 increases the supply of live steam and the consequent lowering of pressure in pipe 2 causes valve 7 to open wider. In case of a considerable lowering of turbine load when the pressure in pipe 2 is also below normal the speed regulator 9 functions to prevent the flow of too much accumulator steam to the turbine. A speed regulator 11 is provided in a byepass line around the valve 7. The regulator 11 is closed normally but opens when the turbine speed is very low and the pressure in pipe 2 is above normal. The control devices 7, 9, 11 may be combined into one unit. Accumulator steam may be led to a single stage of the turbine or to several stages which are controlled by the pressure existing in pipe 2.
