Abstract
342,984. Squirting. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. May 26, 1930, No. 16211. Convention date, July 1, 1929. [Class 83 (iv).] In extrusion presses the residue is stripped from the press after the operation by moving the receiver away from the matrix and clear of the residue which thereupon assumes a larger diameter and then retracting the press ram with the residue so that the latter is stripped off when the forward edge of the ram enters the bore of the receiver. A vertical extrusion press, mounted above a pit for the reception of the work, comprises a press cylinder in one with the framings 1, 3, a receiver 6 axially displaceable by pistons 7, and a ram 10, which may have a mandrel 11 adjustable by centring screws, operated by a piston 5 which is returned by an auxiliary plunger 4. After the operation the receiver is raised and the residue then stripped off by raising the ram. A cutting device 13 is then moved into position while the residue is held in a raised position by friction with the matrix 8, or by an auxiliary fork.
