Abstract

342,554. Auxiliary air admission valves. MOSS, A. H., Myrtle Villa, Misterton, Nottinghamshire. Feb. 21, 1930, No. 5776. [Class 7 (ii).] In an extra air admission device of the type that tends to close with increased suction, a cylindrical suction chamber 15 is provided with a threaded extension 16 housing an air valve 10. The valve is adjustably secured to a rubber diaphragm 13, the spring- loading of which may be adjusted by screwing the nipple 34 of the suction pipe more or less into the cover 25 of the chamber. The edge of the diaphragm is secured by the cover 25 through intermediate rings 24, 28 the latter being of rubber. The air admission port opening may be adjusted by a ported ring 32 which also serves as a lock-nut for securing the device to the induction pipe. Indicating marks may be provided on the chamber 15 and on the ring to show the relative positions for maximum opening of the air admission ports. The valve 10 may have a flat or mushroom head.
