Abstract

342,285. Hair - - waving appliances. FRASER, H. C. and FRASER, M. A., 108, Lowther Road, Bournemouth. Aug. 29, 1929, No. 26242. [Class 131.] A device for curling or waving the hair comprises a shank pressed up from a flat metal strip to form two limbs 1, 2 united at one end by an integral spring bow 3, and a locking sheath or ring 6 adapted to engage the other ends of the limbs and anchored to the device bv a flexible cord 5 threaded through a hole 4, which may be eyeletted, formed through the metal of the bow or in one of the limbs. The sheath 6 may be flattened at 6a or may be provided with a bead or ridge, to form a finger grip. In a modification, one of the limbs is trough-shaped and the other circular in cross section. The limbs may be arched or curved in the direction of their length to fit snugly against the head, may be undulated to impart a crimping effect to the hair, may be oval, circular, or rectangular in cross section, may be provided with tapered ends, and may be covered with fabric, hair, rubber, leather or the like.
