340,872. Nipping. SOC. D'EXPLOITATION DES BREVETS FORT, 59 bis, Rue de Villiers, Neuillysur-Seine, France. March 8, 1930, No. 7667. Convention date, April 11, 1929. [Class 83 (iv).] Portable nipping apparatus for steel bars, cables &c. comprises a fixed cutting blade 1 and a slidable blade 2 guided in its motion by a pin and slot 8, 7, a pin 29 and a roller on a shaft 19, and forced into closing position by a cam 25 rotated from a ratchet wheel 18 through reduction gearing. The ratchet wheel is intermittently rotated by a lever 9 pivoted to the frame and to links 13 thereby operating a pawl 17, a second pawl 20 preventing return motion on reverse movement of the lever 9.
