[Class 94 (i).] Apparatus for facilitating the wiring or strapping of boxes and packages while on a conveyer comprises means whereby the boxes are stopped temporarily in the correct position in relation to guides for the wire, and restarting means ; both means being controlled by a device leaving the hands of the operator free. The conveyer comprises rollers 3 mounted on slightly inclined angle-irons 1, 2. Three similar rollers 15 are mounted on a vertically movable frame e 14, which, at the beginning of the operation, is in the position shown in Fig. 4, with the rollers 15 level with the rollers 3. The box gravitates towards the left until arrested by a stop 10, and is then in position with relation to guides 4 for the wires. The stop 10 is longitudinally adjustable along shafts 36 to allow for boxes of different sizes. The table 14 carrying the rollers 15 is then lowered so that the box rests on the upper surfaces 8 of the guides. A wire is passed along each slot 5 and is guided upwards by a curved portion a at the back so that it can be seized and brought over the top of the box. The wires are then tensioned and secured by any suitable device. The rollers 15 are raised to a position somewhat higher than that shown to ensure the wires being drawn out of the slots, and the stop 10 is simultaneously lowered, leaving the box free to travel to the left. The parts are next returned to the positions shown in Fig. 4 in readiness for another cycle of operations. The operating pedal 17, Fig. 3, is pivoted at 18 and is retained in one of three positions by a spring-pressed pawl 23 engaging in recesses 25 .. 27. When the notch 26 is engaged, the table 14 and stop 10 are as shown in Fig. 4, and when the pawl 23 is disengaged and the pedal is raised by a spring 28 to the upper position, levers 35 are rotated about spindles 36 so that the upper ends 37 lower the table 14. The pedal is then put into the lowest position thereby raising the table and lowering the stop 10 to release the box.
