Abstract

339,523. Crowley, J. C. Jan. 4, 1930. Tyre and like inflating valves.-A tyre valve casing is made in two parts one having a head 2 adapted to be arranged within the inner tube and the other 7 telescoping over it and adapted to co-oerate with the spreader pI a t e 9 to clamp the inner tube between the head and the plate. In the form shown in the Figure the member 1, which is externally threaded at 6, has a reduced part 4 fitting in the bore of the part 7 and has an inclined shoulder 5 on which an elastic packing is compressed by a corresponding shoulder 11 on the part 7. The casing may be made of steel or similar metal and receives in its upper part a brass liner 13 adapted to house the standard valve insides. The part 7 may be bent at right-angles or as otherwise desired. Modification are described in which the reduced part on the member 1 does not engage the bore of the part 7 and in which the elastic washer rests on a square shoulder on the member 1. The lower part of the member 7 may be flanged and rotatably connected to a securing nut bearing against or rotatably secured to the spreader plate.
