Abstract

336,692. Holz, A., and Berdell, T. van D. July 30, 1929. Manures. - Materials containing tricalcium phosphate are treated with a mixture of sulphuric and nitric acid, preferably in the ratio of one to four molecules, and gypsum is removed from the solution of phosphoric acid and calcium nitrate so formed, which is then treated with potassium hydroxide or carbonate. Di-potassium phosphate formed is immediately converted into di-calcium phosphate, which is removed and dried. The residual solution of potassium nitrate may be evaporated to dryness, and the salt mixed in desired proportions with the di-calcium phosphate, which may contain small quantities of calcium sulphate.
