Abstract
335,983. Smith, H. S., and Branston Artificial Silk Co., Ltd. July 5, 1929. Parcelling by bundling.-A press for bundling hanks of yarn comprises series of vertical rear and front supports 10, 11, a platen 12 and closing flaps 13. A reel holder is mounted on members 15 to carry reels 21, 22 of cord so spaced on the spindles 19, 20 that each reel is approximately centered on one of the spaces between the side supports 10. The spacing of the reels is effected by means of wooden sleeves. A guide 26 for each cord is mounted on a transverse bar 28, and a rod 30 assists to keep the cords in position. In use, the cords 27 are disposed as shown, and a bundle 32 of hanks is laid in the press and held down by closing and bolting the flaps 13. The loose ends of the cords are brought up over the front of the press and knotted below the guides 26, a length being drawn forward for the next operation.
