Hand levers; signalling -instruments.-In keylock apparatus of the Annett or Heppertransmitter type for use in connection with railway signals or points wherein the key is formed with a lug on its shank so that it can only be inserted in the lock corresponding thereto by reason of the shape of the aperture, the lug effects a locking operation additional to that of the key bit. The key may be of the Hepper type released at a distance. Fig. 6 shows the key which is provided with bits 8 to engage the levers 6 of the lock, Fig. 1, and the bit 16 to actuate the lock bolt 3. The lug 14, when the key has been inserted and moved axially after being turned to pass a stop 17, Fig. 3, engages a notch 13 in a rotary tumbler 11 which can then be turned out of contact with a stop lug 10 on the lock bolt 3 to permit the bolt to be moved by the key bit 16. The rotary tumbler 11 is shown mounted on the lock cover 2; this arrangement facilitates conversion of existing locks.
