Disc -supported-blade pumps. - An impeller for a centrifugal pump, used particularly for scum-forming liquids, has a wall g, vanes v, and a detachable cover h. The cover engages the edges of the vanes through the outer part of the impeller, but gaps or slits m are left between . them through the inner part h. The width of a slit decreases as distance from the axis of the impeller increases. The slits assist in reducing the formation of scum.
