Variable-speed epicyclic gearing comprises an improved train with planet-gears 6 having spaced rollers 6<1>, instead of teeth, supported on cranks 5 on a driving-shaft 2. The rollers 6<1> mesh with and drive the teeth 8<1> of a star-wheel 8 fast on the driven shaft 9. The rollers 6<1> also coact with an annular track 3, which presents surfaces 3<1> to the rollers in the shape of circular arcs. The speed at which shaft 9 is driven may be varied by allowing the track 3 to slip relatively to a brake 4.
