Abstract

Regenerators; combustion products, returning to furnaces.-An air-heating system for boiler furnaces in which the air is first heated by conduction from the waste gases and then further heated by admixture with a portion of the waste gases comprises a multitubular air heater A disposed above the boiler 1, fans or blowers 4, 6 for inducing the flow of waste gases and forcing or inducing air through the heater, and a mixing chamber adjacent to the hot air outlet of the heater and supplied, as by a fan 10, with a portion of the waste gases from the flue B, the mixed gases being delivered below the grate 3 by a pipe 9. Baffles 11 are provided to mix the gases. In modifications the waste gases for admixture with the air are withdrawn after they have passed through the heater and the air may be drawn from the flue by the same fan.
