Electrostatic field employed; magnetic field employed; metals, depositing.-An electrostatic or a magnetic field or a combination thereof is employed to control the distribution of the lines of current flow in the electrolyte e.g. in order to produce a deposit of uniform thickness or of a predetermined varying thickness. An electro. static field may be produced by a grating or other charged conductor, insulated by a dielectric, immersed in the bath. The magnetic field, when employed may be produced by a coil or electromagnet in series with the cell and disposed outside the bath or in an insulated manner within it. The invention is applicable to the production of copper matrices for the manufacture of sound records.
