Materials. - Heat exchangers comprise the combination of a number of pairs of plates of fibrocement F connected together and adapted to form air passages by means of crosspieces B, each of the units being assembled in spaced relation by crosspieces at the top and bottom of the apparatus. Cavities provided longitudinally on the crosspieces B contain a grout c of refractory material to render the pockets tight. The space between the units serves as a passage way for gases or smoke. Baffles may be arranged within the air pockets.
