Iron obtained from carbonyl may be so treated; and, as the powders obtained from carbonyls in general contain carbon, carbon steels may be made. 9 decarbonizing treatment, for example with hydrogen, may be combined with the pressure and heat-treatment, for the production, for example, of iron foil for magnetic purposes.
