Renewable treads of rubber or similar yielding material are secured to the shoe 6 by means of a screw or rivet 5 in such a way that the clamped part 2 of the tread increases in height towards the shank of the fastening member. This is effected either by an inclined face 3, Fig. 1 on the head of the fastening member, or by an annular inclined face 7, Fig. 2 on the shoe. Further security is obtained if the part 2 of the tread is of greater thickness in the free state at the inner edge.
