Abstract

323,470. Chapman, A. W. Sept. 28, 1928. Sliding seats; adjustments.-A sliding seat for a vehicle comprises an adjustable locating element which does not move with the seat, adapted to co-operate with another element carried upon, or capable of moving with, the seat, and means whereby the said elements can interengage so as to lock the seat against sliding movement until released, the seat then being able to move in either direction relative to the locating element. Such a seat is shown in Fig. 4, the adjustable element being in the form of a pin 14 which can be placed in any of the notches 9, and the cooperating element being the vertically movable bar 11, notched at 19. The catch devices may be enclosed within a pair of interlocking slides 4, 5. In the modification shown, in plan, in Fig. 6, the pin 14 is arranged vertically and the pivoted and spring-pressed bar 11 moves horizontally. Specification 261,460 is referred to.
