Abstract

322,842. Ralph, R. B. Oct. 15, 1928. Contents, facilitating access to; drawer-and-shell boxes. - Relates to cartons &c. for cigarettes and like articles in which the cigarettes &c. are supported on the base of a U-shaped strip disposed in an outer casing closed at its bottom end, one vertical limb of the strip being fixed to one of the sides of the carton and the other vertical limb being free and terminating in a tongued flap which closes the open end of the casing and which can be pulled to move the base of the strip and thus expose the ends of the cigarettes in stepped formation at the open end of the casing. According to the invention the strip is shaped at the end of the fixed vertical limb 10 to provide a recess 9 for the tongue 8 at the end of the closing flap 7. The carton may be provided with a closing flap 13 to cover the flap 7 which may be provided with a finger piece by which it can be lifted.
