Cables, arrangement and disposition of parts of.- Long submarine telephone and telegraph cables for high frequency transmission, comprise a central conducting core A, insulation B and a plurality of strands or wires C arranged in two or more layers and insulated from each other forming a second or return conductor. The central conductor is made up of insulated wires formed into strands and built into a circular unit. Enamel may be used for the insulation of the wires C. The cable may be covered with jute packing D, armouring wires E and an outer serving of tarred jute yam &c.
