Abstract

321,467. Hemmingsen, T. V. Aug. 14, 1928. Two-stroke-cycle engines; driving-gear. - An auxiliary piston, working in the top of the cylinder and controlling exhaust ports, is connected to a crosshead 14, from each side of which extend rods 13 sliding in guides 17 and actuated from a secondary shaft 4 having cranks or eccentrics cannected by rods 7 to bell cranks 5, which are pivoted at 6 and connected by links 10 to the rods 13. In a double-acting engine, a second auxiliary piston at the lower end of the cylinder is connected to a second crosshead attached to the rods 13. The shaft 4 may be removed sideways through an opening 26, 27 in the crank case.
