Abstract

230,914. Groves, A. T. Dec. 19, 1923. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-In a single-cylinder double-acting engine fixed cylinder heads are replaced by auxiliary pistons B, B<2>. These are connected together by side links L and to cranks on each side of the main crank which is actuated by the. main piston B. The exhaust ports G are controlled by the main piston B and the scavenging or air-inlet ports D', D<2> by the auxiliary pistons B<1>, B<2>, the ports D<1>, D<2> being connected by a pipe W. Fuel is injected at the valves H, two of these being provided in the combustion chamber nearer the crank shaft, and a single valve in the other.
