Abstract
320,238. O, K. Tool Co., Inc., and Severson, O. Oct. 15, 1928. Tool-holders. -A lathe, planing-machine, shaping-machine, or like tool comprises a body 10 having at the forward end a dovetailed slot 26 for receiving a high speed alloy cutting bit 11, the bit resting on a horizontal platform 13 and being restrained from lateral movement by serrations 20<a> on its rear inclined face 19 engaged by corresponding serrations on a plunger 15 pressed into contact therewith by a screw 21. A set-screw 23 in the body engages an opening in the plunger which is of sufficient size to allow movement of the plunger to engage or disengage the bit. The serrations on the plunger and bit are in vertical planes transverse to the slot 26 and the plunger is perpendicular to the slot. The bit may be changed for others of differently shaped cutting edges and may be adjusted laterally. The bit may be serrated to engage similar serrations on the inclined face 26 of the dovetailed slot in addition to or in substitution for the serrations 20a.
