Abstract
319,684. Siemens -Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. Sept. 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Alternating-current motors.-A polyphase induction motor of the type comprising two or three stator winding sections two of which are connected at one end by a condenser and adapted to run on single-phase mains is reversed by means of a single-pole two-way throw-over switch which is connected to one of the mains and has its two ways connected to the two winding ends joined by the condenser, the remaining ends of the stator winding being connected to the other main. Fig. 1 shows the application to a squirrel-cage motor having a two-phase stator winding u y, y v joined by a condenser c. The single-phase mains T, R are connected to the junction point y and a twoway switch a respectively. With the switch on contact 1, the current I2 in the winding y v leads with regard to the current I1 in the other winding. When the switch is on contact 2, the current I1 leads and the rotation of the motor is reversed. Fig. 2 shows the application to a motor with three stator windings u y, v y, w y connected in star, two branches being joined by a condenser c and the connection to the main T being made through the third winding. The switch a may be operated manually or by means of a relay.
