Mineral oils; motor spirit.-Gum formation in cracked spirit, naphtha, and other low-boiling hydrocarbons is reduced by the addition of up to about 1.0 gram per litre of naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrene, or other condensed-ring hydrocarbon. a - naphthol, a - naphthylamine, phenyl-a-naphthylamine or other agent referred to in Specification 319,362 may also be added. The agent may be added as a solution, e.g. in naphtha or benzol. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that up to 5.0 grams per litre may be used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
