Cylinder machines; feeding.-Tough and sticky material is divided, during transference from a hopper A to a conveying belt P by a cylinder B fitted with radial slots in which slide cutting- knives E, the outer and upper ends' of which are furnished with bosses F operated bv eccentric mechanism G, K, L, M. The ends of the knives protrude beyond the periphery of the cylinder as they pass the mass of dough in the hopper, each blade thus scraping away a portion of the mass for delivery to the belt. A scraper R prevents any material from being carried right round the cylinder back into the hopper. The material is delivered past the spring-pivoted flap T and its fall is broken by the inclined plate S. Excessive movement of the flap T due to obstructions may be utilized to stop the driving-motor.
