[Class 78 (i)] In feeding apparatus of the type comprising a container the bottom of which has two relatively movable members which co-operate to form a succession of conveyer pockets each of which is arranged to receive a single article and to move it toward the outlet, means are provided for ejecting from its pocket each article which is not properly located therein, before it reaches the outlet. A power-driven disc 6 is mounted on the inclined base of a hopper 2 into which is thrown a quantity of bullets, bullet-envelopes, or like elongated solid or hollow articles. Around the rim of the disc 6 are disposed a plurality of recesses 7 having chamfered outer edges, and into each of these recesses falls more or less evenly one of the articles. Those which lie properly in the recesses are suitably placed for falling through a delivery orifice 3 located at the uppermost point of the disc travel, and pass thence down a flexible chute. The articles which overlie the recesses, either at front or rear, are ejected therefrom by a spring-pressed blade 9 pivoted at 10 and projecting into the path of the article through an aperture in the wall of the hopper 2. The blade 9 lies over and clear of properly located articles, but takes under upwardly tilted ones, and after being pressed back, snaps under the rear of downwardly tilted ones, to throw them out of their recess back on to the loose pile. A box-like baffle member 15 is secured to the top of the blade 9 to deflect and break up a nesting string of hollow articles which might otherwise pass over the blade 9 and arrive at the outlet 3. A screw 17 forms an adjustable stop for the blade 9. Pusher members 19 are fixed to the disc 6 at intervals to break up nested articles, and a stirrer 18 attached to the disc 6 rotates therewith for the same purpose.
