Abstract

316,662. Northrup, E. F. Aug. 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Induction furnaces.- The coil 12 extends axially below the charge 10 and a core 14 of magnetic material is arranged in the space enclosed by the part of the coil below the charge. The core is made up of vertical laminations. Laminated strips 16 may be provided to form an external magnetic circuit. These strips may be wound with auxiliary coils connected in series. In a modification the strips are replaced by a coil for eliminating the field external to it. Specifications 301,954 and 316,659 are referred to.
