Abstract

316,371. Hapgood, C. H. May 22, 1928. Razors, safety.- A safety razor has a thick k backed blade 9 pivoted to the sides of a U-shaped frame 6 and a. de,- tachable guard plate 14. The latter has a springing portion 16 which clips over the central part of the back of the blade, a portion with apertures 17 which may engage projections 7, 18 in the base of the frame 6, a finger piece 16<a>,and guard teeth 15, the end teeth being bent over the side edges of the blade to hold it in position. A roller 21 may be mounted eccentrically in ears 19 on the guard plate, to adjust the distance between the teeth 15 and the blade edge. To strop or hone the blade the guard plate 14 is detached and a forked part 12 of a separate holder 11 is engaged with a notched portion 13 of the blade. The latter can then be stropped on an ordinary strop, the sides of the frame 6 serving to guide the blade.
