Abstract
315,383. Universal Winding Co., (Assignees of Marcroft, W., and Molloy, J. A.). July 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Creel arrangements.-In a creel from which yarns are delivered at a high rate of speed yarn-controlling means 41, Figs. 2 and 3, located between the cop supports 23 and the yarn-guiding means 30, are provided for restricting the ballooning of the strands y as they unwind from the supply packages C, the controllers 41 comprising vertical plates hinged at 43 and formed with circular apertures 42 with smooth edges through each of which a strand is drawn, the apertures being large enough to permit the strands to play to a limited extent therein. The plates are movable out of operative position to allow access to the packages C. The operative and inoperative positions are shown in Fig. 3, springs 55 automatically retaining the controllers in each position. Each yarn passes in succession from a package C through one of the openings 42, and then through guides 38, 40 and between a pair of tension discs 31 to the warper or other winding-on device.
