Valves with screwed valve - members; lift valves; casings. - A waterworks pillar tap comprises a screwed ferrule 2, insertable by a machine into a water main whilst under pressure, a screwed sealing- plug 5, an adjustable branch body 7, a securing-cap 8, and a key 12 for operation. The spindle is packed, preferably by a flexible conical packing 10, and a sealing-ring 17 is provided on a flange 13 to seal the openings 16 when the tap is fully open. The facing-ring 28, adapted to seat on the rib 29, may be replaced by the usual washered loose jumper-valve.
