Abstract
314,271. Lohs, K. Sept. 1, 1928. Forging-dies.-In a two stage process for the manufacture of wheel bosses or like parts having laterally projecting portions at each end a solid blank is first held in a lower die in a press W<1> and stamped by an upper die o<1> to form a flange a, upper and lower punches d<1>, d<2> forming cavities at each end of the blank; the partly formed blank is then placed with the flange a downwards in a, multiple-part die z in a second press W<2>, the die parts z being closed on the blank by a ring f on the upper die o<2> when the latter descends to upset the second flange h and the central cavities being completed by the punches d<3>, d<4>.
